OverviewThe main goal of the book is to present fundamental concepts, theory and procedures used in the analysis of experimental data in a clear and concise fashion, without allowing the mathematical development to become unnecessarily burdensome. It is an introductory text written for engineering students which includes a balanced treatment of theory and applications. The material included in the book assumes the student is familiar with elementary statistics, calculus and introductory linear algebra. The book can be conceptually divided into three key areas: basic concepts of statistical design and analysis; factor screening procedures to determine which factors significantly effects the response of experiment; and model formulation methodologies to investigate how model factors influence the experimental response. To support the generality of the procedures developed in the text, a case studies have been included, such as wear test analysis of advanced technology drill bits; experimental design for a typical solar water-heating systems; factorial analysis of a textile operation; and an application of Taguchils methods in the manufacture of plastic valves.
