Overview

Is a princess more than just a girl in a fancy dress? Nora can't wait to grow up and become a princess. She wants to dance to beautiful music, light up every room she enters, frolic with her animal friends, and protect her kingdom. One night at bedtime, Nora's Dad has a few ideas of his own about what a princess can accomplish, and together they discover princesses can be... WHAT? A musician! An electrician! A zoologist! A doctor! The possibilities are endless. Snuggle up with your favourite princess and discover how a little glitter, grit, and imagination can open a world beyond the walls of a dream castle!

Author Information

Catriona White is the author of Princesses Don't Wear THAT, the first book in Princess Nora's series. Catriona was raised by a feminist mother who taught her that she could be anything she wanted to be. Now a mother to young girls herself, she combats limiting narratives in her daughters' lives and encourages them to embrace their interests without limitations-including their interest in princesses. Catriona lives in Calgary, Alberta, with her husband, Jon, and two young daughters. About the Illustrator: DeWitt Studios was established by Robin and Patricia: identical twin illustrators. After graduating from Maryland Institute College of Art they began their careers in the Baltimore area and quickly discovered that they were confusing art directors all over town. In 1983 they combined their portfolios when an opportunity to do a children's book for Stemmer House publishers became available. They have been working together since then and have worked for many publishers including Time-Life, Charlebridge, Stemmer House, FriesenPress and Lawley Publishing. In 1998 Robin returned to Maryland Institute to obtain her masters in digital imaging. Both Robin and Patricia have taught classes in Michigan in book illustration and character design. Robin enjoys gardening; Pat enjoys cooking; and they both love their spotted herd of Dalmatian dogs.
