Overview

Can Prince Martin rescue a blind cave bear kidnapped by a cruel Northman? If your son is a reluctant reader, the Prince Martin Epic series is a perfect fit because each book features: ◆ High-stakes action-adventure and danger ◆ Action-packed illustrations that burst off the page ◆ Text that appears to be prose-but subtly rhymes, gently nudging the boy along as he is encouraged to find the next rhyme This is the perfect formula for engaging boy readers. Parents and grandparents will love this series because each tale contains a moral-without a lecture-that encourages the virtues of bravery, loyalty, grit, and compassion, which are character traits boys need to become good men. And each book in the series gets a bit longer and more epic, thus growing with the boy. Ages 8 and up. Read as a stand-alone or as Book 4 in the series. Standard grayscale art paperback edition. Reviews

A thrilling adventure story that teaches young readers the importance of such virtues as courage, loyalty, and discernment while also instilling in them a love for the sound and rhythm of words. - Louis Markos, Ph.D., author of On the Shoulders of Hobbits and The Dreaming Stone Another riveting read in the Prince Martin series! Prince Martin and the Cave Bear is filled with themes that I want my children to ponder--hope amidst fear, protecting the vulnerable, fighting for justice...Every time we finish a Prince Martin story, we are already itching for another! - Katie Warner, Author & Editor of the First Faith Treasury series and A Parent Who Prays I love the way Brandon Hale's stories frame a child-like sense of adventure in terms of love, loyalty, and friendship. The Prince Martin books remind us that the little wild streak in all of us is there for a reason. - Jonathan Rogers, author of The Wilderking Trilogy and The Charlatan's Boy A delightful tale packed with adventure, heart, and many surprises. Hale does it again with a story that captivates the imagination and teaches a very important lesson about true wisdom. - Philip Kosloski, creator of the Finnian and the Seven Mountains series Prince Martin and the Cave Bear's humor, rhyming prose, enterprising characters and moral themes make for an excellent read. It will be for any young listener, or reader, an entertaining and thrilling story, with suspense, action, and plenty of adventure. - Donal Anthony Foley, author of the Glaston Chronicles series of Young Adult books

Author Information

"When Brandon Hale was a young boy, he lived in South America. It was a great place to be a kid, and his mom let him play outside as much as he wanted. He had a dog named Okie, a slingshot, and an awesome tree house his dad built. The tree was full of pink mangoes, jabbering parrots, and fat iguanas! When he was older, his family moved home to Oklahoma, and he began second grade. His favorite classes were Reading and History. He still got to spend a lot of time outdoors, and sometimes his uncles would take him hunting-with their falcons! His favorite tales were Treasure Island, The Swiss Family Robinson, Old Yeller, The Hobbit, and the Chronicles of Narnia. After finishing 19 years(!) of school, Brandon went to work as an attorney. In 2001, a lovely lady agreed to marry Brandon. Now they have five great kids and live on the Oklahoma plains. Regarding Prince Martin, Brandon didn't even know he existed until he popped into his head one day! And when he had to go overseas for a long time in 2015, Brandon would tell his young son Prince Martin stories on the phone. In fact, the boy named some of the most important characters! Now Brandon wakes up real early every morning (when the house is unusually quiet) and writes about Prince Martin. He is the author of Prince Martin Wins His Sword, Prince Martin and the Thieves, Prince Martin and the Dragons, and Prince Martin and the Cave Bear. And he has more Prince Martin books up his sleeve! Jason Zimdars is an artist and designer who has always loved to draw. He grew up immersed in stories of heroes and magic like ""The Lord of the Rings"", ""Star Wars"", ""The Dark Crystal"", and ""E.T"". He always came home from the movies or the library to draw all the amazing characters and places he saw in his imagination. When his friend, Brandon, told him about Prince Martin he knew he had to draw him and all his friends, too. He can't wait to share more of Prince Martin's adventures with you! Mr. Zimdars lives in Oklahoma with his teenage daughter and two dogs, who aren't nearly as brave as Sir Ray."
