Overview

All primary teachers are required to teach science concepts and the use of I.T. as part of the National Curriculum. Many find these among the most difficult parts of their job - and few have any scientific or technical training. This integrated package including both a CD-ROM and support pack is designed to help teachers understand science concepts and to teach them more effectively, and its simple and user-friendly interface makes using technology easy. The CD-ROM, designed for use by KS1 and 2 children within a supervised classroom environment, presents lesson units on electricity and magnetism, featuring the characters of a wizard and his cat who introduce children to concepts and guide them through the units. Units cover topics such as: What is magnetism?, the earth as a magnet, electricity makes things work, simple circuits, series and parallel circuits, switches, and conductors and insulators. The support pack offers help and advice for teachers on using the CD in classroom situations, activities and work cards for children to follow, and a wealth of further information to support teachers' own learning.
