Eight thousand years ago, a powerful civilization known as the Tlapixqui thrived in the deepest regions of Mesoamerica. Through the protection of great beasts known as the Miztocuauhtli, the mysterious Tlapixqui people lived in peace and solitude. Yet, despite their success, all was destroyed by a great evil. While the great evil was sealed from this world, the Tlapixqui, the Miztocuauhtli, and their stories faded to myths and legends before eventually being lost to time. As the decades turned to centuries, the centuries turned to millennials, the great evil lay in slumber... waiting... In the present day, Mexico is under the watchful eyes of Eric Martinez, Ramona Escobar, and their AI companion, Ekchuah. Just when they believe they've seen it all in their neverending war against the Diablos, ancient malevolent beasts, monsters unlike anything they've ever seen, have appeared to wreak havoc in Chiapas.
