Reviews

Professor Ricci has thoroughly researched and chronicled the social history, the people, and the many institutions of Ottawa's Italian community, a task that was long overdue, and accomplished in the nick of time as community development and the passage of time have relegated much of our community's history to the memory of octogenarians. Thanks go to Professor Ricci for capturing so much of our lore just in time before all memories fade. Robert Chiarelli, Former Mayor of Ottawa Having shared many stories, articles and pictures with Franco from my own personal collection and that of the Italian Canadian Historical Centre, it has imbued me with a strong sense of pride in realizing that his book would be the first to fully chronicle the Ottawa Italian community, of which I am so proud. [...] a history of the entire community, a description of its experiences, its many establishments, indeed of its humanity, was long in coming. Trina Costantini-Powell, President of the National Congress of Italian-Canadians
