Author Information

Jessica Gunderson grew up in the small town of Washburn, North Dakota. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota and an MFA in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has written more than fifty books for young readers. Her book Ropes of Revolution won the 2008 Moonbeam Award for best graphic novel. She currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin, with her husband and cat. Barbara Krasner is a freelance writer from Somerset, New Jersey, who enjoys writing about American history. Her particular expertise is in 20th-century America and the Holocaust. She holds an MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and completed her MA in History at William Paterson University, where she teaches composition and creative writing. Her debut picture book, Goldie Takes a Stand: Golda Meir's First Crusade, was named a 2015 Sydney Taylor Honor Book for Young Readers by the Association of Jewish Libraries. Danny Kravitz is an Emmy award-winning writer, songwriter, and a professor of screenwriting at Columbia College in Chicago. He has written for TV, film, and print media. A lover of history and the stories contained within, Danny combines his passion for storytelling with the amazing facts of the past. He is also a sports and nature enthusiast. He resides in Chicago, Illinois. Mary Hertz Scarbrough has written more than two dozen fiction and nonfiction books for young readers. Her first book for Capstone Press, Heroes of the American Revolution, was a Junior Library Guild Selection. She practiced law for 10 years and has taught writing and constitutional law. She loves to unearth little-known facts and particularly enjoys researching and writing about history and other social studies topics. She lives in Brookings, South Dakota.
