Author Information

Rosanne DiZazzo-Miller completed her PhD at Nova Southeastern University in 2015, her DrOT in 2003, and her MOT from Eastern Michigan University in 2000. She is an assistant professor in the Occupational Therapy Program at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to her career in academia, she worked in clinical practice in traumatic brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation, which encompassed clients from pediatrics through late adulthood. She is currently involved in community traumatic brain injury rehabilitation as an occupational therapist and serves as a professional educator accreditation reviewer for the Distance Education and Training Council. Research interests include family caregiver training for people with dementia, and various modes of instructional learning delivery, and outcomes research. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and has presented at the state, national, and international level. Dr. DiZazzo-Miller provides national board exam review sessions throughout the country, has presented nationally and internationally, and is published in textbooks and peer-reviewed journals. Fredrick D. Pociask completed his PhD in Instructional Technology at Wayne State University in 2004, and his MS and BS in Physical Therapy at Oakland University (1996 and 1990). Dr. Pociask is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OSC) through the American Physical Therapy Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Care Sciences at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Pociask’s research interests include instructional technology, design, development and evaluation, with a primary focus on instructional principles for reducing cognitive load in the design of complex instruction, the study of the effectiveness of asynchronous web-based blended learning and course room based research, as well as orthopedic interventions in the management of specific spinal and extremity disorders. Dr. Pociask has designed and developed commercial and open-source software, presented nationally and internationally, and is published in textbooks and peer-reviewed journals.
