OverviewFriedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher (1768 1834) had a remarkable ability to inspire his contemporaries from the pulpit. This volume is an edition of 107 sermons delivered on 100 occasions in the years 1809 1815. 74 of them are published for the first time and they provide a comprehensive insight into Schleiermacher as a preacher in his first 7 years at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Berlin. The volume is supplemented by an appendix containing hymn sheets (text only) from the period 1812 to 1816. These prints, designed and published by Schleiermacher, are undated and have been compiled to correspond to the liturgical year. They are now available to researchers for the first time.
