Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationV C Venkatesh had his early education at Clarence High School, St. Joseph’s College, and University College of Engineering, Bangalore, before going to France on a French Government Scholarship. He got his master’s from Institut Superieur des Materiaux, St Quen, Paris, his Ph D from Sorbonne, and his D Sc from the University of Pierre & Marie Curie, Paris. He is a Fellow of CIRP, International Academy for Production Engineering and a Fellow of SME, Society for Manufacturing Engineering. He has published over 100 papers in journals and over 150 in conference proceedings, and supervised 22 Ph Ds and over 30 Master’s by research students. He has worked earlier in five universities, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, National University of Singapore, Tennessee Technology University, USA, Nanyang Technological University (including GINTIC), Singapore, and the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru. He is currently in the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Multimedia University, Melaka, Malaysia. He is the recipient of the Vasvik Gold Medal and cash prize, the Sir R N Mukherjee gold Medal (both in India), SME’s Hans Ernst Memorial Plaque, and seven medals at UTM, consisting of two gold, two silver (Geneva and Pittsburgh) and two bronze, all for his remarkable inventions. Two of his important inventions are the TiC-coated TiC carbide insert and the bondless diamond grinding wheel. Sudin Izman received his diploma from Singapore Polytechnic and B Eng from the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM). He obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Warwick, UK and his Ph D from UTM. After his Ph D in 2004, he has been continuing his research in precision machining of hard and brittle materials involving silicon, glass and Nd-Yag and LiNbO3 single crystal materials. Dr Izman has been working in the Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Technology Malaysia since 1987, where currently he is the Head of Production Laboratory.
