An excerpt from the author's Preface: DURING a period of some years in teaching classes for Trained Attendants the need has been felt for a simple textbook. This little book, therefore, is based on the requisite knowledge for such courses and covers only just enough anatomy and physiology to make clear the reasons for the practical work involved. Care has been taken to define clearly and accurately the different steps in the necessary technique of simple treatments and the care and comfort of the patient. The treatment in cases of common emergencies has been outlined; the subject of acute disease and the treatment peculiar to such conditions has purposely not been discussed.
