Overview

As Brax becomes an adult, he must continue to struggle with the fallout of the loss of his home city, his mother, and gaining a father. Zuzek Damula must find a way to save his world from a war he does not understand, surrounded by several people who get caught up in his insistence to persevere into a power struggle beyond their ability to control. In finding community, both civilizations and individuals must find themselves. Mentors are needed in such times, and each will find theirs in places they wouldn't have expected to. Each challenge requires growth, each growth offers a new kind of pain. In the creation of the Protectorate, its deconstruction parallels its growth, its mistakes portend its exposure.
