Power and Democracy

Overview

Power operates as a central concept in political and social theory, influencing relationships, institutions, and decisionmaking processes. Democracy, as a system of shared governance, seeks to balance power among citizens and leaders. Power and Democracy investigates the philosophical and practical dimensions of power distribution in democratic societies. The book discusses political authority, participation, representation, and resistance. It also explores how inequality and social structures affect democratic functioning. By integrating classic theories with contemporary analysis, it provides a thoughtprovoking examination of how democracy negotiates the tension between power and freedom.
