OverviewThe aging process is marked by a greater number of chronic-degenerative diseases, which predisposes the geriatric population to be treated with a greater number of drugs, thus increasing the risks related to therapy, such as adverse reactions and drug interactions. This work is an important piece of research for the completion of the Pharmacy course. The data obtained in this study was relevant in the context of public health, as it revealed important variables relating to knowledge of the pharmacoepidemiology of potentially inappropriate medicines for the elderly. Highlighting the risks of using PIMs in the elderly, as was done in this study, demonstrates that pharmaceutical interventions should be carried out in the context of multidisciplinary care to ensure access to safe medicines that are appropriate to the specificities of the elderly's pharmacotherapy.
