Post-transplant diabetes

Overview

Renal transplantation has undergone major advances in surgery and medicine, enabling long-term survival. Post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The aim of our work was to study the incidence of DPT and determine its predictive factors, as well as its impact on graft and patient survival. Methods: This was a retrospective observational study of 302 renal transplant patients followed up in the Department of Internal Medicine A and in collaboration with the Department of Endocrinology at Charles Nicolle Hospital. A group (G1) of 65 patients with DPT was compared with a group (G2) of 130 controls without this complication, matched for age and sex.
