Portraits

Overview

Loss echoes through the corridors of time, whispered from the pages of history, nature, and the heart in Portraits, a vivid and haunting collection of poetry by Lacey Jones. With a voice both intimate and timeless, Lacey weaves reflections on personal grief-of loved ones passed and of cherished moments that slip like shadows-alongside tragedies etched into history: the doomed lives of Henry VIII's wives, the sinking of ships, and the myths of goddesses like Persephone. Each poem is a portrait, painted in rich imagery and emotion. With reverence for nature and a deep understanding of life's fragility, Lacey captures loss, loneliness, and love as universal touchstones. For readers who find solace in introspection and appreciate poetry that is both visual and visceral, Portraits offers a quiet sanctuary.

Author Information

Born, raised, and happily retired on Vancouver Island, Lacey finds inspiration and peace in the rugged coast, dense forests, and lush valleys of her home. She is guided by her belief in the powers of the elements around us (as above, so below). When she isn't pushing her cat Benny in a stroller along the waterfront, she is getting happily lost while wandering hiking trails with her dog Morgan. She is married to a wonderful man who tolerates (and often indulges) her bit of an obsession with the wives of Henry VIII. An English literature major, she is most content driving a forklift and slinging soil in the garden center. She is a poet, a bohemian, and a Crone whose desire to preserve Nature's surroundings inspires her writing.
