OverviewPortrait of Sarah is the story of the relationship between Jules Bastien-Lepage and Sarah Bernhardt in the four months of the creation of the famous oil painting portrait by Jules. A story underpinned by interpersonal tensions, technical difficulties and an extremely cold winter in Paris, France. The two find themselves progressively bound together in their past, present and future. The lives of two committed artists and their respective objectives are strung out across almost sixty days of sittings. The seriousness of the endeavour is interspersed with often quite comic events that enhance the reputation of both artists.
