Vyacheslav N. Pak received the Degree of Chemist (1967) and then Ph.D. in Chemistry (1970) working under the guidance of Professor Dmitry V. Korolkov in the Leningrad State University. During the years 1970-1983 V.N. Pak served as senior research scientist in the Leningrad Technological Institute where he was awarded the degree of Doctor in Chemistry (1983). Since 1983 till now he is staying as professor (1985) and head of the laboratory ""Chemistry of Surfaces"" in the Department of Chemistry in the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia. V.N. Pak scientific works (about 200 publications) reflect variety of surface phenomena including thin layers and nanoparticles synthesis, size dependent optical and electrical properties, adsorption and catalysis.
