OverviewBrazil stands out as the world's third largest fruit producer, but its share of exports is still small, partly due to the phytosanitary requirements imposed by importing countries, partly due to the occurrence of fruit flies, where the most important species belong to the genera Ceratitis and Anastrepha, with C. Capitata being the only species of this genus that occurs in Brazil, mainly in introduced fruit trees. The aim of this work was to study population fluctuations throughout the year in domestic orchards and to evaluate the use of food attractants to catch fruit flies in the municipality of Matinhas - PB.
