Overview

My Memoir: Most of the gossip about me throughout the decades was just that. Gossip. I am an amateur writer and this is my catharsis. I am allowing myself the opportunity to tell my truth and to share my story. It will be shocking to many, but that was most of my life...shocking! My entire life has revolved around a decision I made at an early age. A decision that would set me aside and apart from my community and the people that were supposed to love me the most. At the time, I had no idea the course I chose would yield some of the most beautiful and most horrific situations and events. These were situations and events that most others would never go through. I understand we all have our trials and tribulations, but hopefully very few have had any like mine. My main purpose in writing my story is for my children, grandchildren, and their children's children. I would like them to know of me and about me from me. I want them to understand how part of their DNA derived. My wishes are for this to be read understanding that all my actions and intent were out of ignorance, insecurities, impulsivity, fight or flight, self-preservation, and perhaps some selfishness. The intent of any of my actions was never to hurt anyone. I am not completely innocent in all of this. I have asked for forgiveness from everyone that I could think of that I may have hurt. I have forgiven everyone that has hurt me. I am excited to see people changing and becoming more accepting of other races and cultures. We still have a long way to go, but at least my grandchildren will see better days than I experienced regarding race relations. I can only imagine what it would have been like had we had social media back in the 1700s. We all know racism is really hate, showing up in the form of racism. As long as hate exists, so shall racism.
