Via true stories about real people, and after years of hands on research, Beck does an amazing job of showing the reader the realities of our elderly. And, as she said herself, these realities may one day be ours. I highly recommend this book and commend Bec for the bravery and heart it required to write this book. One thing for certain, the stories and people within its' pages will forever be with you. Beck took a topic which one doesn't give much thought and managed to make it a topic which, after reading, will at times dominate one's thoughts. I wholly agree this is a must read for anyone over the age of seventeen , and I assure you that you will be glad you read it. If you've every wondered about what it's like to live or work in a nursing home, Polka-Dot Bath is a book you need to read immediately. Author Marklyn Beck has written a compilation of stories that are, as she points out, a most delightful, sometimes painful, always truthful picture of what it's like to live in a nursing home. An award-winning nurse herself, Beck shares many experiences she had while caring for the elderly throughout her twenty-eight-year career. Some stories are funny, some are sad, and some are somewhat terrifying. But overall, what the book really shows readers is that elderly people are not always treated as they should be, which is something we should all be concerned about, as that might be us, our families, and our friends in there someday. -Ann Collins, Book Reviewer Author InformationMother of one amazing child, from a town serving as the medical hubbub of a large rural area, Marklyn Beck is a repeat award-winning nurse with twenty-eight years of experience. The only recipient of the Best Nursing Care of the Year, and the Consistent Excellence in Clinical Practice awards. Both developed solely to recognize Beck's outstanding efforts in her field. A strong advocate for the human spirit and a connoisseur of smiles, Beck is tiny in stature, but large in heart. Ever one to both look for and find the bright side to everything, Beck believes where there is light, there is hope. In her words: Live fully, laugh often & easy, love unconditionally, always be kind, and do not let anybody steal your shine. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
