Yet while earthquakes and tsunamis are beyond our control, most of the disasters we face are predictable: the result of decades of poor politics. We have resigned ourselves to choosing the ""lesser evil,"" and at the same time, we avoid talking about politics because reality has worn us down. But when we fall silent, others decide for us. This book invites citizens to reflect and politicians to prepare. Sooner or later, society awakens, reclaims the politics it needs, and demands accountability.
