OverviewSustainable urban mobility has entered a phase where implementation capacity matters as much as technical design. While cities broadly agree on the direction, policy ambitions often outpace real-world outcomes due to institutional fragmentation, limited capacity, funding constraints, political turnover, and stakeholder resistance. At the same time, new pressures are intensifying-climate change is disrupting mobility conditions, tourism hubs face seasonal demand shocks, and digitalization is reshaping user expectations while raising new governance challenges around data and platforms. These dynamics call for a policy- and resilience-centered approach that treats mobility as a socio-technical system, aligning infrastructure and services with behavioral dynamics, equity, and governance while embedding resilience as a core principle in planning and operations. Policy, Resilience, and System Innovation in Sustainable Urban Mobility critically examines the foundations of sustainable mobility transitions through the lenses of policy capability, resilience-by-design, and system innovation. It emphasizes the integration of infrastructure, services, data, and human behavior within real-world constraints. This book provides readers with conceptual frameworks, empirical insights, and practical analytical tools to support the design and implementation of mobility systems that remain equitable, adaptable, and effective as cities confront climate pressures, demand volatility, and rapid technological. Covering topics such as low-carbon transport systems, mobility-as-a-service, and the 15-minute city model, this book is a fundamental academic resource for graduate and doctoral students, public authorities, metropolitan agencies, consultants, policymakers, and more.
