OverviewPoker is a game of many different concepts and ideas, and the relative importance of these ideas has changed over the years as different forms of poker gain and lose popularity. But the underlying theory of how to approach poker, and in particular no-limit hold em, still remains the same. Since 2005, David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth have each been writing four essays a year, covering a variety of topics, for the monthly Two Plus Two Online Poker Strategy Magazine. Some of these essays are easy reading, while some of them address the more challenging aspects of advanced poker theory, but all of them are designed to help the reader think correctly about poker and to improve their games. In Poker and More: Unique Ideas and Concepts; Strategy, Game Theory, and Psychology from Two Renowned Gambling Experts, David and Mason Malmuth, who have each written many different books on numerous subjects in the poker/gambling field, cover many different ideas which are important in today s modern poker games. Topics include Facing the Threat of Future Bets, Semi-Bluffing and Big Bet Games, Expert Non-Optimum Random Strategy, Multi Street Bluffing and Bluff Catching, Why Amateurs Wrongly Think Poker is Mainly Luck, Seven-Card Stud Versus Texas Hold em, Chips Changing Value in Tournaments, Moving In Against the Blind, Real Poker Psychology A Few Clarifications, A Few Predictions Revisited, and much more. His best known book, The Theory of Poker, which was written about 40 years ago, is still considered the most important book on the subject. Sklansky has won three World Series of Poker bracelets along with dozens of other poker tournaments as well as other types of gambling tournaments. He has consulted with several casino companies and is the holder of five patents. In addition, he invented the game that was to become Caribbean Stud and testified in front of Clinton s Presidential Gambling Commission. He s still generally considered the number one authority on gambling theory and attributes his standing in the gambling community to the following three facts: 1. The fact that he presents his ideas as simply as possible (sometimes with another author) even though these ideas frequently involve concepts that are deep, subtle, and not to be found elsewhere. 2. The fact that David s teachings have proven to be accurate. 3. The fact that to this day a large portion of his income is still derived from gambling (usually poker, but occasionally blackjack, sports betting, horses, video games, casino promotions, or casino tournaments). Thus, those who depend on David s advice know that he still depends on it himself. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
