Poetry collection 439 (Edition1)

Overview

flightless birds, sinking ships is a poetry collection about endurance without rescue - about what happens when effort does not lead to escape and loyalty does not guarantee safety. These poems move through grief, faith, love, and loss, tracing the space between what we give and what can be carried. They name the quiet cost of trying to make the broken float, of staying longer than we should have, and of learning that survival is not the same as being saved. This book is for those who tried to rise under weight and discovered that sometimes survival is the only honest victory.

Author Information

Motivated since the age of eleven by Tolkien's reminder that ""there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for,"" Sara McDonald has long taken up her pen as both weapon and refuge. She holds a B.A. in Writing Studies and Psychology from the University of South Florida and is the recipient of the PCSB Writing Award and the Spurney Award. Her work has appeared in Positive Impact Magazine and USFSP's The Crow's Nest. She lives by the sea with her husband, Timothy, surrounded by family, friends, dogs, and the steady comfort of home. Rarely found without at least two books nearby, she can usually be found quoting lines she loves, humming familiar songs, or pretending she can fly.
