Poetic Images: Visions of the North Shore

Overview

In Poetic Images: Visions of the North Shore, poet Bob DiCarlo and 3-time Pulitzer winning photographer Stanley Forman combine their talents to capture the beauty of Massachusetts' North Shore and the rugged New England coastline. The North Shore is captured in all its seasons and moods - its haunting mist-covered bays, frolicking beachgoers, quirky animal residents and legendary landmarks all celebrated with DiCarlo's whimsical, passionate poetry and Forman's keenly observational camera. This latest entry in the ongoing Poetic Images series captures the immediacy and heartbeat of one of America's most beautiful regions.

Author Information

Bob DiCarlo, devoted patriarch, celebrates 60 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Bonni, and cherishes their three children, Lori, Stacey, and Kim. New England's coastal communities brought the blossoming of family traditions, embraced today by six lively grandchildren. Bob's idealistic journey into education would leave lasting impact at Beverly High School, Fitchburg State University, Greenfield Community College, and the University of Massachusetts. From student teaching to crafting a legacy of publications, research, and community service, Bob orchestrated a life symphony that harmonizes family, education, and the enduring beauty of New England. His commitment to learning, community service, and family defines a life well-lived. Stanley Forman is a longtime Boston newsphotographer in newspapers and television. He began his professional career as the campaign photographer for Edward Brooke's successful run for U.S. Senate in 1966. From his time at the Boston Record American (later Boston Herald) and then WCVB-TV, Stanley and his lenses have captured New England news for over 55 years. As a newspaper photographer, he has won three Pulitzer Prizes - including back-to-back awards for spot news in 1976 and 1977, and one shared with the Herald staff for coverage of the Blizzard of '78. He is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoys life to the fullest. As he likes to say, ""I hit the lottery of life-how lucky am I!""
