Overview

These poems are collection of verses dealing with various African experiences. They highlight the African world view. Non-Africans and Africans in the Diaspora will appreciate the beliefs of the African peoples that shape their lives. The poems will also fill with nostalgia those Africans in the Diaspora who have been estranged from their roots for a long time. The poem, To Black American Brothers tries to create that nostalgia. Some of the poems deal with metaphysical issues such as the poem The Cycle , The Night Visitor , and When I Shall Come Again. These poems deal with soul migration and reincarnation which are strong beliefs in black Africa. There are poems that enlighten, such as Listen, there are poems that take the reader back to his/her infant days such as Playing in The Rain, and The butterfly, there are poems that instruct such as The Broomstick. The reader will be thrilled by the many verses included in this collection of poems.

Author Information

Mr. Alfred Uzoh is a Nigerian citizen who was raised and educated in the Republic of Cameroon. He attended the prestigious ecole normale superieur and later studied in the state University of New York and City university of New York graduate school. He worked in the education service in Cameroon. He later returned to Nigeria and joined the public service. He taught at the Federal College of Education Okene. He is now retired and living quietly in his home village of Egbuoma in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.
