Poems from a Resurrected Heart

Overview

Poems from a Resurrected Heart is an enthralling collection of poems which captures the catharsis of both a loving and lamenting heart. This was written as a journey of healing and moving on from grief to love, spanning five years up to now; crafting it into emotive works of poetry. In this collection, there are poems to appeal to all audiences ranging from: pure unconventional love, the experiences of the LGBTQ and narratives of society including conservatism and religious influence. With a careful mix of traditional forms, like the metaphysical genre and contemporary free verse, each poem has been intrinsically shaped to address their crux, giving every reader the chance to reflect upon their experiences in light of my own. The aim of this collection is for emotional self-reflection through the medium of someone whose life experiences may differ to yours, but through the raw, emotional transparency and intelligent poetic craft of this collection, even those most different to me may be brought to tears.

Author Information

Debut author Nori Billett is a young, upcoming poet who writes through the medium of the love and loss she s experienced through her life. Whether it be the unconventional love of a queer long-distance relationship, or the grief of losing a friend at the age of 13. Nori uses both archaic metaphysicality and modern verses to provide an insight into her unique yet sympathetic life experiences that echo within any audience. Alongside her intrinsic view, Nori provides narrative criticisms on contemporary western society such as the experience of being transgender and asexual, religious discrimination, and the failing, capitalist, conservative society we live in.
