Author Information
Heather Skulski has worked with children in both school and recreational settings for over 25 years. A communicator at heart, she loves building community through teaching, as well as storytelling and theatre. Pockets in My Heart was inspired by her desire to say goodbye to students each year in a meaningful, professional way and to express her care for them. She is the creator and writer of the YouTube channel Mrs. Skulski's Schoolhouse, which uses puppets - including fictitious characters and animals - to support early literacy and letter awareness in every episode. In her spare time, Heather enjoys gardening, traveling, and spending time with her husband and dog. Nicky is a freelance illustrator based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in the north of England. She specializes in creating captivating illustrations for children's picture books. Nicky is inspired by the limitless imagination of children and conveys that through her work using vivid colours, organic textures and unexpected compositions. When she isn't illustrating Nicky can be found walking in the Northumberland countryside with her girlfriend and two dogs.
