Author Information

Shen Shixi, originally named Shen Yiming, was born in Shanghai in 1952 with ancestral roots in Cixi, Zhejiang. In 1969, he went to Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, and lived in Yunnan for thirty-six years. He has served as a member of the Children’s Literature Committee of the Chinese Writers’ Association, a council member of the Shanghai Writers’ Association, and the vice chairman of the Yunnan Writers’ Association. Beginning his literary career in the early 1980s, Shen developed a deep passion for animal-themed literature and has since published over six million words of works. His books have been translated into multiple languages, including English, French, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese, and distributed worldwide. His accolades include the China Book Award, the National Outstanding Children’s Literature Award and various books have been selected by the National Press and Publication Administration as one of the ‘100 Outstanding Books Recommended for National Youth’ and ‘50 Popular Books Loved by Readers’.
