Capt Pierce, at a young age fell in love with the ocean, as a result started sailing and scuba. After school he entered the Marine Corp. while in the Marines was trained in many skills including security and anti-terrorism assault along with many other specialties. He also assisted in the development and training of one of the first anti-terrorism assault teams on the west coast. After a brief break in his service and at the start of operations in Beirut. He requested the too be reassigned at which time he was sent to 2nd Marine Division where he requested assignment to the 8th Marines. After the Marine Corp he joined the Merchant Marines becoming a captain where he worked in cargo transport operations. During this time he also continued working with recreational vessels, he owned a vessel delivery company which allowed him to make trips too and from the Bahamas, Caribbean, Central and south America on a regular basis. Making an attempt at the Single-Handed Around the World Sailboat Race in the mid 1990's, he loved being out on the ocean traveling. Over the years, has had several close calls with both drug runners, and pirates, in both commercial as well as private owned vessels. While under contract overseas used his experience to establish the procedures to deal with the threat of piracy, which drastically reduced the attacks in the area saving the company thousands of dollars and also reduced the danger to the crews. With the increase in piracy around the world and the loss of life of unsuspecting mariners Capt Pierce has decided to share his knowledge of vessel security involving piracy. With the hopes of aiding other boat captains in preventing the escalation and successes of these violent attacks. By introducing a procedure that others can build on in research of attacks and policies that can be established onboard your vessel, you can reduce the danger to your boat as well as those onboard. Currently Capt Pierce is writing a book for the commercial industry as well as teaching classes these on how to limit the danger of piracy.
