A boy sings like a bell struck in mist, and seventeenth-century Italy falls under the spell of his voice. Pinocchio steps into the world-crafted, bound, and required to keep accounts no mortal can see. An old arborist with a killer's past finds him and offers craft, discipline, and knives honed to purpose-training that turns a bound creation into something precise, patient, and difficult to stop. Under Geppetto's guidance, the puppet learns how to move through candlelit cities without begging mercy from them. The Church starts calling the wooden boy ""blasphemy."" They prepare an exorcism-not to drive out a demon, but to split ""soul"" from ""body"" and prove that whatever thinks and aches inside the puppet was never meant to count as a soul at all. Pinocchio answers without spectacle: he chooses what to hurt and what to spare. Yahweh's angels descend in copper and fire to erase him; hunters follow through ruined paths and silent towns. Villagers carve rough figures of the muzzled boy and set offerings at their feet. Pressed from all sides, he wants something forbidden and simple: to choose what he is, and to keep what he loves, without bowing to anyone.
