OverviewThe prosthetic rehabilitation of a fully edentulous patient with a severely atrophied ridge is one of the most complex challenges facing the clinician. This is because the resorption of support zones leads to instability, lack of retention, and considerable pain and discomfort. In this context, the piezographic method is based on the principle that, for each patient, there is a zone of equilibrium within the oral space, where muscular functions do not interfere with the prosthesis. Here, the forces exerted by the tongue are counterbalanced by those of the lips and cheeks. To ensure a favorable prognosis, tooth positioning must respect the functional cues specific to each patient. This book explores different approaches, taking physiological functions into account, with the aim of improving prosthetic retention and optimizing patient comfort during oral functions such as chewing, swallowing and phonation, illustrated by clinical cases.
