OverviewPhoenix Dactylifera L. commonly known as date palm is a dioeceous plant which means it has separate male and female saplings. In the present study, phytochemical screening and proximate value determination of male and female date palm species is carried out so as to understand seasonal and regional variation in them. The analysis of proximate values of male date palm, sweet female date palm and unsweet female date palm revealed that crude fiber and moisture content exhibited significant variation during three seasons: after flowering, during flowering and before flowering seasons. During flowering season, ash content of all three species remained uniform while the moisture content had considerable variation.
