Overview

X-ray free-electron lasers produce high intensity, subpicosecond long, coherent, x-ray pulses, and will open a new frontier to study the structure of matter at the molecular and atomic level. Some fields of interest are structural changes in chemical reactions, single biological molecules, warm plasmas, nanosystems.
