Author Information

Sheila K. Nicholson has been involved in the long-term care/health-care industry for over 22 years. Beginning as a physical therapist, she returned to law school in 2000 and now works in the industry in defense counsel. She has lectured extensively on legal documentation and medical malpractice to Florida’s Associations for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. She has presented ways to mitigate liability in Medical Malpractice claims nationally to the American Physical Therapy Association. She has also presented Risks Associated with Rehabilitation to the Florida, Mississippi and New Mexico Health Care Associations. In December 2006 she published an article in PT Magazine entitled, “Liability Awareness: Guidance in the Courtroom”; and in January 2005, she was a contributing author to Legal Documentation for Athletic Trainers published by Slack.
