Overview

"A full colour guide to photographing model aircraft and trains against realistic backgrounds, using computer software such as Photoshop. Home computers and digital cameras have given aircraft and train modellers the opportunity to add a very creative and enjoyable new dimension to their hobby. With fairly basic computer and camera skills, the models can be displayed in their true environments: images of aircraft can appear airborne and trains can be brought to life by the simple ""addition"" of smoke, steam and footplate crew. This book provides brief tutorials on the methods the author uses and illustrates in full colour many examples of the final results."

Reviews

A beautifully produced book in full colour throughout. The author explains and demonstrates how to create photo backgrounds to compliment the display of model aircraft and trains. He describes the methods of preparing and photographing completed models and then combining the digital photographs of backgrounds and models to produce stunning composite photographs, manipulating the images to create exactly the required effect. The techniques described can be use both to create a composite photo background behind a completed model, or to move completely to a photographic image. This may be the answer to many model builders space problems. Building any type of model is in itself an absorbing and rewarding process that appeals to a complete spectrum of individuals. It can become an addictive hobby or a profitable business. The difficulty is in how to display the finished result. Where model making is a business the customer is the one faced with the task of finding suitable space to display the model safely and effectively. For the hobby builder, space soon becomes a major problem. By building models and then turning them into composite photographs, space is only a matter of computer hard drive capacity and the next logical step is to turn the library of images into a film strip to be displayed on a flat screen display as changing pictures on the wall. An interesting book that provides a new approach for modellers and is also a collection of outstanding colour photographs - firetrench.com.
