Table of ContentsReviewsPraise for the Fifth Edition The chemistry of phosphorus is so vast that it is extremely difficult to compress the important material into a single volume. Nonetheless Corbridge has managed to do this while at the same time making the material quite readable. The scope of the book is very broad. ranging from the extraction of phosphate rock to the role of palindromic sequences in DNA transcription, to metal complexes of P rings. The presentation includes a historical review which is useful and not belabored, but emphasizes fundamental synthetic transformations, structures, properties and applications. --Thomas B. Rauchfuss, in Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1996 I have to conclude that not only does the book achieve good coverage but it also is well indexed, something very difficult for any author to achieve. Definitely recommended. --Simon Cotton, in Polyhedron, 1996 Praise for the Fifth Edition The chemistry of phosphorus is so vast that it is extremely difficult to compress the important material into a single volume. Definitely recommended. -Simon Cotton, in Polyhedron, 1996 Praise for Previous Editions ...I do not know of any other monograph that covers the field of phosphorus chemistry so comprehensively in a single volume - Angewandte Chemie ...There appears to be no other book that so comprehensively surveys the current state of inorganic, organic, & biological chemistry of phosphorus -Journal of the American Chemical Society 1 highly recommend this book to the general chemical reader as a guide to a rapidly growing area of what has already developed into a major branch of chemistry. For an expert in the field of phosphorous chemistry it presents a fascinating overview, which is particularly valuable -Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry ...The frequent inserts and footnotes are bristling with information of all types and the same is true of the tables and the reaction schemes -Nature ...a valuable contribution to the scientific literature -Phosphorus & Potassium ...a fairly concise, yet remarkably comprehensive and well- referenced survey of all aspects of the chemistry of phosphorus -Journal of Applied Crystallography ...this is a very useful book which should be on every phosphorus chemist's shelf -Chemistry in Britain The contents of this book will make it a standard reference for many years... -United Trade Press Ltd This is a superb scientific resource of interest to all those involved with phosphorus chemistry... -Education in Chemistry I feel this volume should be a standard addition to the laboratory of any chemist working directly in the field or around the periphery of phosphorus chemistry. There is probably no faster way to get acquainted with the vast world of phosphorus chemistry -Journal of the American Chemical Society Author InformationDerek E. C.
