Although philosophy, history, and literature have been in the center of his attention, he refused to specialize. He has written his thirty books in French and English, and saw them through translations into German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. He has been a professor and a visiting professor at Yale, the University of Dijon, at the Sorbonne, The University of Chile. His doctorate is from Columbia University, an honorary doctorate from the University of Mendoza (Argentina). Extensive travels, lectures, and publications in scholarly journals.
