Dr Nicola Pelizzari is a Research Fellow in Applied Linguistics at the University of Brescia (Italy). He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Portsmouth (UK). His work combines applied linguistics with health communication to investigate how language affects access to healthcare and patient understanding.His research focuses on corpus and discourse analysis of medical texts, health discourse on social media, the popularisation of health topics, and its communicative effects. He has published several books and articles on these topics and has presented his work at major international conferences. He is currently involved in teaching English medical discourse to health professionals at the University of Brescia.
