Petra

Overview

For those who love stories in the vein of Anne Rice, this is a fresh and unusual twist on vampire lore. __________________ Petra is the Prima Vita, the only true immortal. But the darker the gift, the higher the blood price-and she has paid it all. At the moment of her making, at the turn of the first millennium amid the glories and horrors of Ancient Rome, two men died with her. Both reborn in Petra's immortal blood, one became her lover and the other her enemy. Petra promised the unspeakable to save Lucius from Clarius. The bargain, once struck, was simple: die with Clarius once a year to keep Lucius safe for an eternity. __________________ In Book 1 of the Immortal Codex series, Petra's epic journey takes her across the centuries, from Ancient Rome to the bustling streets of Genoa... from plague-ridden Kaffa to Avignon, France in search of a way to break free from the one who would destroy her.

Reviews

""PETRA is a powerfully written and incredibly well-researched vampire novel. Lasota's writing style reminds me of a cross between Anne Rice's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and Elizabeth Kostova's THE HISTORIAN."" -Marilyn Peake ""Not only is the tale rich with historical detail, it is driven by fully realized characters who come to life on the page. I literally could not put the book down."" -C. Jane Reid ""The rich and vivid imagery, and the vibrant prose kept me fascinated... [Petra] doesn't rely on tropes or cliches too much, forging its own path and setting up its own foundation for a unique story that horror and paranormal romance fans will definitely enjoy!"" -The Upstream Writer ""This book is enticing. Exquisite in detail. As soon as I began to submerge this amazing read, it gave me some major Interview with the Vampire feels."" -John Valentin ""I had no idea what to expect when I started this book. After the first chapter I was completely hooked reading the book in one day! Immortals, vampires, love and friendship all written within a deep historical setting! Everything I love in a book. Very well written with deep/rich characters. Loved it!"" -Michael Shaw ""What an emotion-filled, action-packed story! There is never a dull moment, that's for sure. And I absolutely loved all of the historical aspects of the story. I fell in love with both Petra and Lucius. Their love story is at once passionate, enduring, and heart-breaking."" -Kimberly Westrope ""I admit I was a little leery of the book knowing it was a vampire story, which I feel has been overplayed in the past decade, but I was most pleasantly surprised to find this wasn't a story full of the usual vampiric cliches. Not only is the tale rich with historical detail, it is driven by fully realized characters who come to life on the page. I literally could not put the book down. The vampiric blood-sucking becomes so much more than just the need to feed or a sexual gratification (though there is some of both). There is a mysticism involved, as well as a mystery tied directly to it. I can't say enough about the characters. The two main characters, Petra & Lucius, have a complex relationship that centers around both what they have become and the love that carried over. Their nemesis, Clarius, shares an equally complex relationship with Petra that is both horrifying and strangely addicting to watch play out. I love a well-written villain, and Clarius is certainly that. I would recommend this story to anyone drawn to not only vampiric tales but love stories and historically rich stories."" -C.J. Reid
