Pete the Peacock and A Teacup Named Rose

Overview

The fifth in the flip book series, both stories explore humility, beauty, and belonging through gentle, character-driven storytelling. Pete the Peacock follows a proud and radiant peacock who sets out in search of a mate as beautiful as himself. Along the way, his journey leads him to a powerful realization about love, humility, and the quiet strength of those who do not seek attention. A Teacup Named Rose is a tender holiday story told from the perspective of a delicate teacup whose family of fine china once graced joyful dinner tables. As circumstances change, Rose experiences loss, waiting, and ultimately renewal through the warmth of a Christmas reunion.

Author Information

For over 20 years, Lauren Hadley Kermode thrived as a successful realtor, building a reputation for honesty, expertise, and a seamless approach to helping families find their perfect homes in Maryland and Delaware. But Lauren's greatest joy came not from closing deals, but from creating magical bedtime stories for her granddaughters. Those moments of imagination and connection sparked something special, and years later, their vivid memories of her tales encouraged her to take a leap into writing.Lauren is proud to share her growing children's book series, beginning with Pepé the Coconut Palm and Daisy the Daisy, the first in a whimsical seven-book flip-book collection. Now, the adventure continues with Pete the Peacock and A Teacup Named Rose, the fifth book in the series, bringing even more heartwarming stories of growth, adventure, and discovery. With more books in development, Lauren is also expanding her storytelling to adult fiction and non-fiction titles, launching in 2026. Her mission is simple: to create stories that inspire, uplift, and remind readers of all ages of the magic in life's everyday moments. Merry Blackwell is 11 years old and lives in rural West Wales UK, where she has grown up in a Rudolf Steiner (Waldorf) school and close community. She loves to dance, swim in the sea and climb trees. At home, she's often engaged in creative writing or varied handwork; drawing, painting, or needle-felting. She has a vivid imagination which shows itself in the thoughtful and beautiful way her creations manifest. Merry takes pride in her work and enjoys gifting them to her friends and family. She is beyond delighted to share her imaginings of Pete the Peacock with the world! Quinn Kilburn is an 11-year-old artist from Delaware who has always loved drawing. Quinn is the same illustrator who started off the flip book series with Lauren's first book, Daisy the Daisy, which took home semi-finalist at the Florida Writer's Conference. When she's not drawing, Quinn loves riding her bike, swimming, and spending time with her family and their dog, Hank. Quinn is very excited to consider many career options as she gets older.
