Perspectives of Future Learning: AI through the Lens of Educators

Overview

This book looks at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and education in Singapore’s post-secondary education programmes. The key focus is the study on needs assessment, selection of adaptive technologies and their seamless customization into the education ecosystem. To successfully implement the AI-education solutions, the reader learns about the planning considerations to develop a suitable approach to engage stakeholders. The book then provides practical insights on how AI-education solutions adopting machine learning, natural language processing, analytics and automation were successfully implemented in classrooms to enhance teaching and learning. In the context of the pervasiveness and power of AI, the human connection is emphasised through a collaborative approach, with behavioural insights, for the holistic development of the student of the future. The authors aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The authors use case studies, their research findings and empirical evidence to illustrate the principles, frameworks and theoretical groundings used for the different areas. By considering the intricacies of integrating AI meaningfully into Singapore’s post-secondary education, attention is drawn to the often overlooked and challenging aspects of practicality and scalability of these strategies and the generalisability of the findings from the studies. This book is ideal for administrators, researchers, practitioners, instructors and trainee teachers to draw reference from the design, implementation and evaluation, including implications, of teaching and learning interventions using AI in higher education.
