Overview"This report is a follow up to the 5th report, ""HL 165-I, session 2006-07"" (ISBN 9780104011386) and the ""Government response"" (Cm. 7234, ISBN 9780101723428). The Committee was dissatisfied with the Government response and invited comments from those who gave oral evidence to the original inquiry and took further evidence from two Government ministers. Whilst pleased that the Government has altered its stance and is more receptive to the Committee's recommendations, the Committee remains concerned about several areas. It comments on: responsibility for personal internet security; software vendor liability; protection of personal data; consumer protection; reporting procedure for online fraud; data collection and a classification scheme for recording of e-crime; the Police Central e-Crime Unit; and, international co-operation."
