Reviews

This excellent book provides therapists, counsellors, and other practitioners with all they need to know about working with trans and gender-diverse clients. Given the current climate of panic and misinformation in this area, the book provides a much-needed counterbalance: a straightforward, accessible, and engaging overview of how sex and gender work, what key terms mean, what is involved in various forms of transition, the impact of transphobia, and the importance of community, among other topics. The chapters covering autism and other forms of neurodivergence, and diversity within trans communities, were particularly welcome. I would heartily recommend this to any clinician or practitioner wanting to improve their knowledge in this area. Absolutely superb. -- Dr Meg-John Barker, author of How to Understand Your Gender and Queer: A Graphic History

This is a deeply inclusive book and a must read for therapists and anyone working with trans and gender diverse people. I spent most of my time reading this book nodding and saying 'YES!' emphatically. Highly recommended. -- Yenn Purkis, Autistic and non-binary advocate author and presenter This excellent book provides therapists, counsellors, and other practitioners with all they need to know about working with trans and gender-diverse clients.
