Previously he was faculty at IIT Kharagpur. He obtained a PhD in perception and urbanism studies, with a background of Bachelor in Architecture from Jadavpur University, followed by a Master of Design from IIT Kanpur. He is a University double Gold Medalist. His research interests revolve around visual communication, behavioral and cognitive paradigm of design products related to environment, built space or products. He has a prolific record of journal, book and encyclopedia publications. His artworks were exhibited in Germany. He has been an invited speaker and mentor in various national and international institutions and programs, e.g., Smart Cities and Countries Congress Paris in 2015.
