OverviewPenny Hes Yassour tells stories and keeps history alive as it explores the boundary between remembering and forgetting. In her installations for the Kunst- halle Recklinghausen, the award-winning artist combines sound, image, and a multi-part world of objects into narrative mise-en-scènes of great poetic power. She leads the viewer through the Jordan Valley with its many watchtowers, accompanies the transformation of the landscape in a gigantic, stage-like water basin, follows a wildly circling flock of birds, and documents the flight of bats in a narrow, labyrinthine spatial installation. This is Penny Hes Yassour's first solo exhibition in Germany. With numerous illustrations and informative texts, the accompanying catalog provides comprehensive insights into her subtle artistic work.
