"Deborah Lee Rose is the author of 19 children's books read around the world and in space! The author of Penguins Ready to Go, Go, Go!, she has won five national STEM children's books awards including for Astronauts Zoom! which orbited on the International Space Station for 57 million miles for Story Time From Space. Astronaut Koichi Wakata read the book aloud onboard the space station. The readaloud video is now a free STEM and reading resource at https: //storytimefromspace.com/astronauts-zoom/. Both Astronauts Zoom! and Deborah's Scientists Get Dressed won the national DeBary Award. With raptor biologist Janie Veltkamp, Deborah has coauthored two STEM books about endangered and threatened birds, Beauty and the Beak: How Science, Technology, and a 3D-Printed Beak Rescued a Bald Eagle, winner of the AAAS/Subaru Award and the Bank Street College Cook Prize, and Swoop and Soar: How Science Rescued Two Osprey Orphans and Found Them a New Family in the Wild, winner of the DeBary Award. All five books are published by Persnickety Press/WunderMill Books. Deborah's classic ocean alphabet book Into the A, B, Sea has sold more than a quarter million copies. She also authored its companion book One Nighttime Sea. A graduate of Cornell University, where she first learned the word ""ecology,"" Deborah was senior science writer for UC Berkeley's renowned Lawrence Hall of Science. She is now a contributing editor for PRISM Magazine of the American Society for Engineering Education.
