Perfect for rigid thinkers, this book will help children understand that play can be cooperative and imaginative rather than directive. Essential. -- Benjamin Ludwig * School Library Journal * A funny, inventive story about creativity.  * The Bookseller * A brilliant example for children writing their own stories with imagination, fun and the power of the writer taking centre stage. -- Kate Heap * Scope for Imagination * Kids and grown-ups alike will giggle at Pencil’s story-within-a-story that gets more and more delightfully chaotic as it unfolds. A perfect book to read aloud again and again. * My Baba * This innovative book is a metatextual delight of storytelling . . . Collage-like illustrations add to the childlike feel, and could easily inspire a copycat art lesson.  * Teach Primary * Silly and huge fun, both in the vibrant visuals and verbally. The book as a whole demonstrates the kind of imaginative, co-operative play that adults love to see children engaging in. * Books For Keeps * A zany story with twists and turns on every page – you will want to read again and again.  * Creative Steps Magazine * Pencil’s Best Story Ever brims with energy and a surreal sense of fun. It’s also a joy to read aloud as readers are encouraged to interact with the story and characters. * LoveReading4Kids * Carly Gledhill's riotous read turns storytelling on its head. * Absolutely Education * Celebrating creativity, friendship and resilience, this humorous story within a story has energetic, bright, and expressive illustrations. * The School Librarian *
