OverviewSurgical procedures are always tailored to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient. This point is of utmost importance and interest, from the earliest known civilization (Pharaonic Egypt) to today, especially for our kids. Junior Pediatric Surgeons are treated with respect by their seniors in training, as they will care for the future community. The need for young pediatric surgeons to update their knowledge is a mandate, and this will be reflected in pediatric care, which was the ambition behind this series. As surgical art has no limits, we aim to simplify surgical knowledge and skills in an engaging way across disciplines. Recent advances in technology have improved surgical outcomes, particularly in Pediatric Surgery. Laparoscopy and robotics are widely used and will be surgeons' tools in the coming decades. Therefore, we present this in chapters with numerous illustrations and figures to guide the surgeon's decisions and support competent training and skill development. In the second volume of our book, seven chapters are included, starting with a neonatal surgery section covering two common neonatal diseases. Then, Section 2 presents two major reconstructive procedures: a unique collection of rare median cleft lip cases with more than 30 figures, followed by cleft palate management from another perspective. Section 3 covers pediatric urology in two chapters. The final chapter in this volume presents the concept of functional surgery in a specific surgical context, with the most recent treatment from a leading center in this field. This second volume is a further step toward achieving our goals by providing scientific and educational content for every pediatric surgeon and, hopefully, whetting readers' appetites for future volumes of the updated guide to pediatric surgical procedures.
